Replacing a PV Inverter

Post by PeteRig »

If a PV Inverter is replaced with the same model eg due to a faulty inverter, does the replacement require certification and inspection?

When I log an inspection on the HRDB I always enter the inverter serial number as part of the information.

Thanks

Under ESR 6A (1) replacement of fittings is low-risk PEW.
So no CoV required.
And therefore cannot be high-risk PEW, so no inspection required either.

Thanks Alec, I thought that would be the case, I was just thinking that my ROI details on the HRDB regarding the inverter would be incorrect, and if a physical audit was done or something went wrong and an investigation showed that the inverter was different from the ROI what happens then.

For instance, I always check that the inverter complies with the "connection and reconnection" times, what if the new inverter didn't comply with these times, how would this be traced back to who installed it?

It seems the HRDB is then of no use?

Not sure what would result from a different inverter being found if audited.
But should not reflect back on you.

I suspect few others wool be recording this info on their RoI.
If anything, the fact that you've re4corded this (non-required?) info would tend to confirm that a swap had been done.
