I have come across this very type of thing in the past. The first one was where a pillar was removed and the mains were extended into the LV Cubicle of the TX that supplied the Pillar. The Lines company did all of the work but still required the customer to pay for an Inspection of the Mains work. A...

Re: Repairs of 'Mains Work' Fittings

I am not sure why I included upgrades from SERF’s to MCB’s as general work. Must have been having a senior moment.

Re: Two revenue meters fed from one main

There are two dwellings sharing the mains but as far as the rules go they are one installation. If you add things to an installation it is general risk work. Ie: more things, circuits, RCD protection, U...

Re: Additions/Alterations

If you extend a compliant circuit then the whole circuit must comply with the new rules. Your second to last paragraph pretty much answers your question. It is not acceptable for the finished work to comply with some but not all requirements. Sometimes it is easier to run a new circuit and leave the...

Re: Measuring Max Demand

I have no idea. I work in the metering industry so bypass the retailer and have access direct to the Data Administrators who read the meters. They provide us the data on an as required basis for sites that have a downgraded metering Category due to historic maximum demand, just to confirm that they ...

Re: Measuring Max Demand

If the installation is a commercial CT metered site you can ask the retailer to provide a demand report. It will typically give you information about the largest usage in any 1/2 hour period over a 12 month time frame. A bit of maths after that and you have actual real world figures to work with. Th...
