Re: ASNZS5139
I agree with you Tpower about banging heads. Who is ultimately responsible for updating the cited standards in schedule 2? Is it an industry cost issue? Would a petition work?

Modules with different azimuth in series
Good morning I have been asked to do a solar inspection, first time I have come across a string in series with multiple azimuths/angles. Each module has a optimizer under the panel, to which my understanding modify the current from a lower producing panel in order to prevent impedance on higher prod...

Re: 5.3.5.1 MEN location exceptions
Thanks as always Aleck for your insight. The symptoms is that some consumers on the same feeder are suffering from flickering lights. Couldn't agree with you more that this is not a bonding wire, the term gets misused by almost every electrical worker.I believe an earth wire was temporary connected ...

Re: 5.3.5.1 MEN location exceptions
Hi, I have been asked by an engineer to attach a 'bonding earth' from a pumpshed to the transformer to reduce the harmonics due to some large vsd's. I have said that this would provide a parallel path for the neutral current and instead we would need to omit the link from the installation and instal...

Micro hydro
Hi everyone I am wondering whether anyone has inspected a grid tied micro hydro system before? Specifically a powerspout. I have visited a site that contains 3 × PLT 200 (200V dc) 1kw Paralled up, located in a shed.. They are connected to a grid tied inverter located 100m away. The cable for the DC ...

Inspection after livening
A bit of a interesting one however possibly all to common. I have been requested by the network and electrician to sign off a house from going from a builders temporary supply to a permanent house connection. Driving by one day I noticed that the house appeared to be well and truly finished, knocked...

16amp leads
Was there ever a time that 1mm2 flex was suffice for a 16amp lead under the standards? Many older caravans tend to have them, and have had valid WOEF. Would the inspectors be checking for current capacity? or just polarity, continuity & a visual for damage ?

Re: Service mains extension - Installation or works
Given that no work has been done on the installation, only the works end of the cable, can we disregard the requirements of reg73 in particular 73a (e) iv, which refers to verifying a main earthing system before relivening. Not always will a lines company be able to have access inside customers hous...

Re: Service mains extension - Installation or works
I know on the network where I am from they have diagrams in their standard as to where the POS are. If there is a chance of transposition of the mains cable they require it to be inspected by an authorised network inspector. This includes work done after a pole change/pillar box replacement. The que...
