this cable passes right by our main workshop that i a trying to get a 3 phase feed to. this is to operate 1x 3 phase motor
What size is the motor?
You may be able to supply it from single phase using a VSD. If that is the only thing you need 3 phase for and already have single phase there.

Re: Fraemohs Houses

Thanks Jamie. That's embarrassing, I did know that but for some reason it went out the window when I started looking at the construction of these houses.

Does anyone know the size of the ducts they put in? I'm thinking there will be lots of 3 plating

Fraemohs Houses

Has anyone here wired a Fraemohs house? I haven't wired one yet and was going to look at one this week, but I doubt it will happen this week. My main concerns are with running the cables down the walls given that some of them are only 65mm thick solid timber. Does cabling in the walls need to be SWA...

Re: Meter Terminal size

Thanks Doug, Pete Size the mains to suit the load, distance and installation conditions as usual. If the cable needs to be smaller for the meter, then just reduce it in the metering enclosure/switchboard. You would need to check your local network rules or retailer rules to get the exact determinati...

Meter Terminal size

Does any one know what the maximum cable size is that can fit in a smart meter terminal?

Electronic recording of test results, COCs and ESCs

Hi everyone I'm an older apprentice with a background in IT about to finish my apprenticeship and become qualified. I have a couple of questions about the paper(COCs and ESCs) work when doing jobs. Is there a way legally that COCs and ESCs can be done electronically and stored? I have seen that ther...

Re: power points under eves

Thanks thats interesting. So in theory they could be a normal PDL 692 power point on a mounting block in that case which would probably look better. Cheers guys sounds like its one of those things that doesnt feel right but complies Why even use a mounting block? Just cut a hole in the hardy board ...

Re: Electric Fence/induced voltage

I would have thought that if the star point at the transformer is earthed and you have a MEN and earth electrode at the builders temp every should be ok. On the dairy farm I have worked on we had 5KV at best and the run off for it was 9KV. 9KV was enough for the bulls (and myself) that we had. 17KV ...

That's not going to help the guy on the forklift if he gets off it when the forklift is live though. The cables were only damaged on the forklift side, not the back. And any electrical worker getting up there to repair, should be isolating it before working on it. With that number of circuits, the ...

Electricity Act 1992, 76,77, Exemption for work done under supervision

Studying for my year 3 block course reading through the course notes. Just figuring out the differences between a supervised person and a trainee. I can see a supervised person needs to have their work connected to a power supply by a registered person. Has any one got any examples of who a supervis...
