Re: Earthing an Awning
I'm making assumptions here but I'm thinking the awning probably needs earthing and not bonding but feel free to correct me If this is the case you can go as small as a 2.5mm2 earth depending on size of active conductors that pose a risk Is it the downlights in the awning that present a risk? Re: Earthing an Awning
I'm assuming you are talking about bonding the metalwork of awing? if so the minimum bonding earth is 4mm, with a maximum reading of 0.5ohm (when you test the bonding to the switchboard) Even if you were to use the earth from the light circuit (which you shouldn't) I doubt you could achieve the mini...

The company I work for does a lot of work for a network company. Apply the "under normal operating conditions" test, would you expect splashes of water to go over the edges and down the gap? if so then you would be justified in declining to connect it up until this issue has been sorted as it would not be electrically safe.

I'm no generator expert, but you would need to know what the power factor of the motor is, and the efficiency, so you can do the maths to work out the KVA size and then you will have an idea of the size generator required - Generators are speced in KVA

Looking at the results he got where 1.35 ohm was a pass and 2.15 was a fail, looking at table 8.1 it could be a 20A MCB - C Curve, 1.53 is the maximum loop, this increases to 1.92 for a 16A MCB.
My bet would be 2.5mm2 on a 20A MCB, but yes good to know some more details

I'm having a close look at the picture and seen a few things not quite right. 1) The 2 RCD's, the live side, the phase conductor - they should both go to the load side of the main switch, I would assume the 40A MCB is the main switch, neither terminal has 2 wires in it. 2) The load side of the RCD's...
