If you as an employee, on your own accord at your own cost gained extra qualifications relevant to the trade and business, it could be instrumentation, inspectors, ect. Would you reasonably expect that you employer would acknowledge and at least to some degree, utilise your additional skills & knowledge in the business, maybe with an increase in remuneration.
