How is everyone installing freestanding induction oven/hobs?

Typical nominal load for these things is 34-40amp,
3000 says they need to be connected via an installation coupler as freestanding, but 40a socket/plugs are huge and expensive.

Anyone figured out a good solution?

Also wondering if it’s possible to hardwire the new oven if the last freestanding oven was hardwired (ie direct replacement, low risk work/esc) or is this a stretch?

Replacement is "replacing a fitting", which is maintaining the installation;
and ESR 59 says we can maintain an installation in original condition.
So yes we can directly connect a replacement cooking appliance, including for free-standing ranges.

For a new one, where 4.7.2 requires either socket or installation coupler; we can use Table C4 to establish the max demand of the appliance.
So a 32 A socket - and circuit - is OK up to FLC = 13 kW .
