Swim Spa

Post by Nathan »

Hi I have a domestic customer that has purchased a swim spa.
The spa is split into 2 sections and according to the specs I have seen spa section 1 requires a 32 amp supply, and section 2 requires another 32 amp supply + a separate 15amp supply for the swim jets, so a total of almost 80 amps.

The customer was highly surprised when I mentioned that I was going to have to install a new mains cable etc as he thought that all that would be required was another subcircuit from the switchboard.

The supply is currently 1 phase 63amp, and they already have a 32amp cooktop, 2 x ovens, 1 x 15amp spa (they still want that one running as well as the new one) plus a big ducted heat pump system.

I have asked the customer to talk to the spa supplier to see if there is any current limiting on the spa but thought that I would check to see if anyone had come across these before and im also wondering if the spa supplier should be mentioning that you may need a electrical upgrade to run these.
Thanks
