Large 1ph appliances

Post by Spannerz »

Hello.

I've recently taken notice of an appliance supplier who is fitting machines into workplaces by means of modified flex and 3pin plugs. These machines don't seem to have a proper name plate and thus I doubt a legitimate DOC either. Though they look generally well built they are clearly imported and probably a European design.

The connection is via removable Flex extension. The socket to the machine is IEC C16/19 square jug style, flex is 1.5x3c, and has been fitted with 3pin 10a AUS/NZ plug.

Either the machines have come with a different flex, probably a 15A Euro plug, or no flex/plug at all fitted.

Think, "15A Welder with Earth pin shaved down".

Machines have been inhouse, tested and tagged by some technician and as said, don't have a notable name plate serial number or identification.

Thoughts?

As long as the FLC doesn't exceed 10 A, and the work is done by a suitably licenced person then tested as per ESR 90; probably OK.

Unless they are a domestic type; unlikely to be DMRAs, so no SDoC req'd.
