selling a item in NZ with a European plug , ,,, the work safe site says it must have a NZ plug .. but also says this ......

(Note: Normally complying with AS/NZS 3112 for products intended to be connected to the majority of domestic socket-outlets; however there are other recognised plug standards for use in specific situations that are also allowed.)

So can it be sold with a European plug ?

There's no simple answer that applies in every case

Look at ESR 23.
Item (e) says that "domestic or similar" appliances are electrically unsafe of fitted with a plug that does not comply with the relevant Schedule 4 standard.
Most of those Standards are either AS/NZS, or IEC with AS/NZS modifications; and will specify "3112" type plugs.

But for cases where no Standard is specified, or for items that are not domestic-type appliances; this restriction doesn't apply.
So "60309" or '3123" types are perfectly OK in a non-domestic setting; in fact very common.
And other types can be used, generally for special applications.

From a safety perspective; the plug should match the available sockets, without use of any adaptor.
