Tiny Home WoEF renewal

Post by Slovett »

Apologies if this question has already been answered on another thread -

This question relates to Tiny Home Connectable Installations.

Does a Tiny Home CI need to renew its WoEF after the first 4 years if it stays on the same site and is connected to the same supply?

ESR 77(1) Says CI must have a current WoEF if it is hired or leased.

ESR 76 says we can't supply power to a Connectable Installation without a current WoEF.

ESR 75(a) only refers to Caravan Park Supply Pillars for periodic verification.

I can't see anywhere that states a WoEF needs to be renewed - Unless it moves to another site after 4 years or hired / leased.

As soon as the WoF has lapsed I'd say it can no longer be supplied so should be unplugged before lapsing and not replugged in until a current EWoF has been issued.

If it remains plugged in when it lapses I'd say it being supplied without a valid EWoF and is in breach of ESR76

Power isn't only supplied when connected, it continues to be supplied the whole time it's connected, so leaving it connected when the EWoF runs out would be non-compliant

An WoEF is required when connecting the installation to the supply.
Reg 76(1) says Before permitting or authorising a connection for the supply of electricity. The key word is the connection for the supply.

If the installation had a WoEF 10 years ago and hasnt been disconnected in that time, then there is still no requirement for an WoEF

Upon actually looking at the clause I agree with above

Spakznz is correct.
The requirement for WoEF applies only when it is proposed to connect to supply.
The obligation is on the person allowing connection, not on the CI owner.

technically this only works uf the CI is never unplugged.
Though how the powers-that-be would ever know about that ....?

Thanks AlecK -

If the Tiny Home (or any other CI) was being used on Private Property as a Rental or Air B'n'B then I'd assume ESR 77(1) would come into play, which means it would need a current WoEF, even if the CI was never moved or the supply was never disconnected?

I agree.
My previous comment wasn't intended to cover leases / rentals
