Transportable Tiny Home Stand alone Installation

Post by Slovett »

Hi,

This is a question somewhere in between a Transportable installation (3001) and a Stand Alone Power System (4509.1)

The installation is a Tiny Home on wheels. But there is no inlet (no connection via plug and lead), so probably not considered a connectable installation even though its mobile. It will get its power from a P.V solar system connected to an Inverter that supplies a SwitchBoard within the tiny home. At this stage Im unsure what Voltage the array will be. The client has already purchased the PV Panels, Inverter and Batteries.

I've looked through 4509.1 and so far all supply arrangements require the installation of an earth pin (as per 3000). But being this is mobile, it's not really feasible.

What options are there and what standards should I follow - 3000 obviously, but does 3001 come into it? Im guessing 4509.1. But other than 3000 they don't really have any solutions for compliance that I can find so far.

I will have a site visit this week, but would like to read up on some possible solutions before going.

Any one else here have any experience with these installs??

Thanks

Correct that if there is no provision for external supply, it's not a "connectable installation".
So not required to comply with "3001" by ESR 60(1).
Can comply, but not required to.

Correct that 4509.1 requires an earth electrode - even if the only real function of it is to avoid the unit being blown away,
Note that ESR 60(2) only requires compliance with "4509.1" if installed to comply with part 2.
But the only alternative is to install to Part 1 - probably don't want to take that path.

I think best option would be install to comply with "3001", just leaving out the provision tor external supply.
And that means you can work to 2022 edition, because you're not compelled to comply with cited edition.
2022 edition covers PV etc
