Batteries - How to know whether to apply 3011.1 or 3011.2

Post by JamieP »

Or in other words, how do we know if a battery has vented or sealed cells?

For example I've been asked to install an LG Chem Resu 10 and Im trying to work out what standard to work too but have no idea how to know what type it is. Have looked through the MIs but can't find anything.

The battery chemistry is a " lithium-ion storage battery" which means AS/NZS 5139 is the correct standard to use, but the battery makers instructions must be used. A battery maintence system (BMS) is also essential too and needs to used and adjusted to the correct operating voltage for maximum service life and also to cover abnormal operating conditions.

I was enable to find installation and servicing information on Google.

I understand 5139 is a "best practice" guide and I do have this

But because 3011 is cited by 3000 I wanted to see if any of the information in those standards is relevant to my installation

This means I need to buy them but just wanted to get the one relevant to what I'm using but was unsure how to know

AS/NZS 3011 is for lead acid batteries only so they do not apply.
