Mechanical Protection

Post by Chewbucca428 »

HI guys,
doing a bathroom renovation and owner/builder wants to put a light switch on a load bearing wall where the timber supports are. Idea is to notch out a chase in the timber for the cables. This will mean that the cable will be directly beneath the plaster board. What mechanical protection do people recommend? Sheet metal a couple mm thick fixed over the chase? Other option was to come down inside the cavity slider. I've never put a light switch on a cavity slider before, just wondering what others think for this ideal?

The situation described meets one of the trigger conditions for "protection required" under 3.9.4.3.2 of "3000".
The permitted options are listed in 3.9.4.4.
