Anyone have a copy of this standard? Not available via EWRB but I'd love to have a wee look over it, my curiosity isn't worth dropping the $$$ on it though

Did anyone in NZ ever work to this standard or was it an Australian thing more so?

It was like a DIY guide for electricians. Had more practical information in it than 3000 does.
I don't have a copy though. One of the few I don't have :(

"AS/NZS 3018:2001
Electrical installations - Domestic installations"

Yeah I haven't had much luck tracking down a copy, sounded like it could have some interesting stuff in it

Not sure where you're based so this may not be useful but in Auckland you can find the standards in some libraries. I looked that particular one up and you can go into the Central library and view it in the library only, but can't withdraw it.
Unsure if other regions libraries have this or even if you're keen enough to go to the library to have a look at it!

"3018 has been discontinued;. Basically it was targetted at the domestic sector, on the basis that domestic work is simpler and those doing it don't need to have the entore book.
But it was never much used in NZ; and with almost all Standards that we need being available "free" via EWRB there's no saving for NZ workers (as there was for people in Oz)
It was derived form "3000", and contains nothing extra; just leaves out a lot of stuff that was not considered directly relevant for domestic.
Including a lot of things that we would accept as normal in domestic, and that save time / materials; but not included in "3018" because it was aimed at the section of the trade who can't / won't think.
In currently-cited edition of "3000", 1.9.2 recognises compliance with "3018" as compliance with Part 1 - but only for Oz.
NZ believes we all need the whole book; not a cut-down version for idiots. And Oz has now followed, with "3018" no longer recognised at all.
Basically the work of updating it to keep pace with changes in "3000" is huge; and the cost can't be justified.
