NZS6116:2006 Transformer supplying electrodes

I have been supplied with a 230V/550V transformer to supply the electrodes for the neck and nose in a beef box stunner.

The unit complies with AS/NZS61558.1

4.5 indicates compliance with table 2, 2 of table 2 says is in compliance with AS/NZS61558.2.4

Table 2 references clause 2.1.2 for this

If I look at 2.1.2 it mentions "equipment not protected by barriers shall be supplied from an isolating class transformer complying with AS/NZS61558.2.4 with no direct earth reference unless specifically allowed in section 3"

I believe the electrodes in my case have sufficient barriers

Is compliance with AS/NZS61558.1 enough since my equipment is protected by barriers?

I presume you meant Row 3, not row 2.
And while it specified a check; it also gives the reference on which that check is based: in this case 2.1.2
"Barrier" is defined in 1.4; which over-rides the usual meaning of the word.
Therefore if the electrodes have barriers (as defined); then the tx need not comply with the specified Part of "61558", and the check doesn't apply.
That's your call to make, and certify; though as high risk PEW you'll need to find an inspector who agrees.

As with many Standards, Part 1 of "61558 "(that your tx complies with) is general requirements for all transformers;
while Part 2.4 specifies particular requirements for isolating transformers.
(Always worth looking up the titles, even if that's all you can find out)
