Imported EV's

Post by Dano »

Hi All,

Just wanting some advice regarding this IC-CPD I recently came across. This came supplied with the vehicle. It has a rating of 100v/200v, 12A. According to the guidelines this would not be acceptable as it's required to be labelled by the manufacturer as being compatible with a 230v 50Hz supply? Also being rated as 12A, I've seen these including this one fitted with 10A plugs. I imagine there would be a number of these in use out there, has anyone seen these? Is there something I've missed and these would be ok to be sold and used with the vehicle. Just wondering how far I should be taking this?

Thanks

Suggest it should be taken to Energy Safety

Not only non-compliant with the Guidelines, but electrically unsafe under ESR 23 on both counts
Refer (1)(d) for voltage rating; and (1)(g) for current rating of plug.

It looks like there have been a few that have been deemed Electrically unsafe from the Gazette - https://gazette.govt.nz/notice/id/2020-au5440 and https://gazette.govt.nz/notice/id/2020-au5439
