Can an IPX4 EVSE be installed in a pool zone?

Depending on Mode; it's either a socket outlet (6.3.4.3), or it's other electrical equipment (6.3.4.5).

If it was a Mode 3 charger, it would either have a socket or a lead. 3000 section 6 isn't really specific about types of "socket outlets" allowed in pool zones. Does the EVSE outlet come under a socket outlet? What about if the outlet is on a lead?
If the EVSE is in a zone, then the lead would probably reach the pool (they are usually 5m at least).

"Socket outlet " is a defined term; and includes all types (both LV & ELV). Including cord ext sockets on the end of a lead.
There's no need for S.6 to be specific about types of socket; in fact any attempt to be specific would just open up loopholes.
Any socket in the Zone must comply with the shock-protection rules for that Zone.

So where the EVSE has a lead directly connected to it, that lead is part of the EVSE;
however the rules can apply differently to each part.
The "socket outlet" on the end (for plugging into the car) has to comply with 6.3.4.3 (Row 1 of Table 6.2).
In effect, the length of the lead means the main part of the EVSE - which is "other electrical equipment" - has to be far enough away that the end of the lead can't become non-compliant.
The main part - and the flex of the lead - must comply with 6.3.4.5.


As usual ; more than one set of requirements will apply.
The wet area rules of S.6 are additional to whatever other requirements apply.
current EVSE guidance in 7.9 (rules once "2028" edition is cited) is about one-way supply from installation to EV.
Time's coming - the technology exists already - where there EVSE will also act as a source to supply the installation from the EV.
In which case it will need to also comply as an electricity converter [4.12], and as a generation system [7.3].
