is it ok for apprentices to work alone?

Hey folks

I'm not sure on the rules but is it alright for the supervisor to send an apprentice to work alone on jobs they can handle?

Thanks Sneath,
That is very clear and helps confirm what I'd been thinking was right; in essence, a Supervisor can be at a distance, as long as they are confident that the apprentice can handle a task

Note that different guidelines apply for supervision of trainees than for supervision of (unlicenced) "persons under supervision".
Also different absolute limits of work; set in the Act

It also depends on the apprentice.
Some people pick things quite easily, others not so.
Those are the people that need to be supervised well.
There was an apprentice a few years back found dead in a trench with a set of Duspols beside him, when he was working on an underground cable.
This is why we have supervision rules.
