Hey fellas,
This was addressed in the old forum but what are some of your guys methods of bonding to the rebar in a concrete slab?
I remember Alec had a method using an earth rod but can't remember the details...

For using the slab as the electrode:
Cut a standard galvanised electrode into 2 or 3 pieces, bend each piece 90 deg, and tie one leg to the re-bar - 2 or 3 ties - with the other leg coming up where a bottom plate will be.
Use a flush box & labelled blank plate to provide the required access for inspection & testing.

The point of using galv rod is that it's protected against corrosion; whereas re-bar isn't.
And being in a protected place within the wall cavity, no further anti-corrosive action is needed

Works for bonding also, without need for access point.

There are ready made products from a number of manufactures but they are fairly pricey

Wricons and LPINZ to name a few
