Does any one know what the maximum cable size is that can fit in a smart meter terminal?
I'm trying to size the mains cabling for a new house.
Meter Terminal size
Re: Meter Terminal size
I believe its 25mm, if the mains are larger ie long run for volt drop, break the cable down to suit the fusing

Re: Meter Terminal size
Size the mains to suit the load, distance and installation conditions as usual.
If the cable needs to be smaller for the meter, then just reduce it in the metering enclosure/switchboard.
You would need to check your local network rules or retailer rules to get the exact determination.
I'm pretty sure that the terminals could fit up to 35mm², but that size might not be allowed due to the bend radius limitations.

Re: Meter Terminal size
Thanks Doug, Pete
I have since got another person with a bit more experience to look over what I am trying to do.
Thanks I was thinking that, I was just trying to see if I could use the cable between the meter board for the tailing down of the mains.DougP wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 7:44 amSize the mains to suit the load, distance and installation conditions as usual.

Re: Meter Terminal size
Depending on what make/model of tariff meter it is, its usually and commonly 35mm2 max

Re: Meter Terminal size
The EDMI meters are 35mm max
If cables are larger for vd or Ali Must be tailed down to 35mm or less and Cu
Pretty sure that goes for all Cat 1 meters.
