Hi Guys,
I have been a registered electrician for more than three years based in Auckland and would like to be a meter installer, i.e,install the new meter for new house and connect the power in the pit. Can anyone tell me the pathways to become a meter installer?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,

How to become a meter installer in Auckland?
Re: How to become a meter installer in Auckland?
Two completely different functions.
Installing meters is a matter for energy traders; mainly through Metering Equipment Providers, who may either use own staff or subcontractors.
Whatever the exact mix, and regardless of area; metering is a function of who the consumer buys their energy from.
Connecting installations is controlled by the relevant network.
In order to do both; you need separate accreditation for each function.

Re: How to become a meter installer in Auckland?
Generally the retailer approves a company to install metering, usually they prefer Inspectors as quite often an Inspection of a new installation is required before metering is installed.
So it's dependent on the retailer and who they "approve" to install meters. Quite often the meter installer also needs to be Network approved as the meter installer needs to close the service fuse to test and prove their install, hence network approval is needed.
